Note: The BCS Summer Workshop plans have not been finalized yet. And we will be playing, as always, with the Community Band
for the Town of Blacksburg July 4th Celebration. Schedules and information will be provided as they become available.
Special note: The Musical for Summer, 2010,
will be "The Pajama Game," a 1954 show with 3 hit songs and a bunch more that will all seem fresh and new
because they weren't hit songs! And best of all, it calls for a full string section and has some nice moments
when the strings aren't competing with the jazz band! I'll be looking for 6 violins (possibly 8, depending
on how the books are scored), 2 violas, and 2 cellos, plus acoustic string bass. --John
Spring Concert rehearsals start Jan. 11, 2010.
The program includes: Schubert's Unfinished Symphony, Rossini's La Gazza Ladra Overture, Mercadante's Clarinet
Concerto with Bruce McGavney, Carl Maria von Weber's Bassoon Concerto in F with Dillon Meacham and
Khachaturian's Adagio from "Spartacus"
