The Blacksburg Host Lions Club presents several awards each year to recognize outstanding accomplishments in the community and the area.
The CITIZEN OF THE YEAR AWARD is presented to a citizen of Blacksburg, who, in the opinion of the Club Citizenship and Patriotism Committee, deserves recognition for substantial contributions to the well-being of the community, but who has worked in relative anonymity.
The 2008 winner of the CITIZEN OF THE YEAR AWARD is David Crist.
Lions International sponsors a Peace Poster Contest each year, urging all Lions Clubs around the world to participate. The Blacksburg Host Club has sponsored a local Peace Poster contest for several years, with contestants from grades 6 and 7 of Blacksburg Middle School.

The Lions JONES/SANDERS AWARD is presented to the Blacksburg High School senior male and female students who, in the opinion of the School faculty and administrators, best exemplify academic achievement and outstanding citizenship.
The 2009 awards were presented to Chelsey Williams and Brian Parkhurst. Chelsey was on the honor role, and a member of the basketball, volleyball, and swimming teams. Also she volunteers with the rescue squad. She will attend New River Community College. Brian is an eagle boy scout, volunteers at the Montgomery County Christmas Store, and was a member of BHS Key Club and the FFA. He will attend Virginia Tech.
The H. B. DILLON AWARDS are presented to the Blacksburg High School senior male and female athlete who, in the opinion of the School faculty and administrators, best exemplify athletic performance and sportsmanship.
. The 2009 Dillon Awards were presented to Arushi Kumar and Dale Davis. Arushi was a four year tennis player and team captain. Also she was an outstanding student and will attend the University of Virginia. Dale was on the football and track teams. He will compete in the Virginia High School all-star game and was an outstanding student. He will attend Virginia Tech and will walk-on with the football team.
