BLACKSBURG HOST LIONS CLUB
2009 WALK-A-THON
Purpose: To support local Sight Conservation Projects and the training of an assist dog through the Leader Dogs for the Blind Program
Sponsors: BLACKSBURG HOST LIONS CLUBS
in association with the Delta Gamma Sorority of Virginia Tech
with support from the Student Chapter of the American Animal Hospital Association
- When: October 3, 2009. Walks start any time after 9 AM.; finish before noon.
- Where: Virginia Tech Campus, parking lot at Smithfield Rd and Duck Pond Dr.
- Distance: 1 mile up to 3 miles
- Participants: Anyone with, or without, a dog partner. Each walker should solicit sponsors. Sponsorship forms available on this website (see below).
- Prizes (drawing at 11:30; 1 ticket for each $20 turned in with the registration form): $100 savings bond from Stellar One-John Shoulders; $200 savings bond from National Bank-Bob Dapper; VT plaque (2) from Grand Home Furnishing- Bob James & Steve Forkner; Sunday brunch for 2 at Mountain Lake Resort- Wendy Azzora; 2 tickets to a VT football game from Montgomery Regional Hospital-Mary Kate Quinn; two $20 gift cards from PK Bar & Grill-John Kuapezyky & Katrine ?; 2 full service oil changes at $39 each from Snappy Lube-Matt Davis & Georgianna Hayman; Heartstrings Pet Lodging & Trim-Cindy Schilling & 1 night lodging for dog or cat-Suzanne Ament; 2 16" pizza from Mike's Grill-Gayle Zygner & Wayne Leininger
- Rules: Dogs on leash at all times. Current Rabies vaccination required. Sponsorship money to be turned in before prizes awarded.
