The Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program assists families and individuals in immediate, temporary, and emergency situations. Its efforts are coordinated with the major local social service agencies and with area civic and religious groups. MCEAP serves those who failed to qualify for public assistance or had exhausted their benefits. Its philosophy is one of assisting county residents in maintaining their households and restoring their self sufficiency.

All these services are available to eligible recipients after client screening at the 110 Roanoke Street office.

Board of Supervisors meeting in April 2005: BOARD NOTES 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM The Board voted unanimously to "recognize the 30th Anniversary of the Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program and proclaims April 23, 2005 as MCEAPs 30th Anniversary and Appreciation Day." Since its inception in 1975, MCEAP has dispensed more than $2 million in assistance for food, rent, utility payments, and medical prescriptions to 132,483 individuals in more than 46,000 cases in Montgomery County. Citizens are invited to help celebrate MCEAPs Anniversary at a cookout at Nellies Cave Park in Blacksburg on April 23, 2005 at 4:30 p.m. |
