Statement
concerning the recent shooting tragedy at Virginia Tech.
The members of the
Shawnee Hunt Club would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to anyone
affected by this heinous crime. The Shawnee Hunt Club consists of many Blacksburg locals, graduates of Virginia Tech,
parents of current (and former) students, current (and retired) faculty
members, and we all consider ourselves friends of the University. Please
know that the students, faculty and the family members of the victims are
in our thoughts and prayers.
The
members of the Shawnee Hunt Club would also like to make the statement that
the alleged shooter, Cho Seung-Hui, is not a
member of our organization, has never been a member of our organization,
and as far as we know, has no ties to any member, past or present. The
Shawnee Hunt Club has provided quality firearms training for sportsmen and
law abiding gun owners for the past 39 years. Cho Seung-Hui
has never been trained by an instructor with the Shawnee Hunt Club Training
Team, nor was he ever a student in any of our firearm classes, which are
taught through the Montgomery County Parks and Recreation Department, with
assistance from the Virginia State Police and Montgomery County Sheriffs
Department.
Any concerned law enforcement agencies or national media
outlets that would like to ask our club officers specific questions, can
email us at shawneehc@gmail.com. The Shawnee Hunt Club reserves the right
to disregard any requests from media outlets for public comments concerning
the tragedy at Virginia Tech.
