The Pajama Game
Call Out Information
Dates and Directions

What are call outs?

Call outs” are our fancy term for “open rehearsals.” We will schedule several of these rehearsals each summer. The normal costume is the current show T-shirt & tan pants, shorts, or skirts. We typically will not do any large group staging at these rehearsals. These rehearsals are done with full orchestra except at the Warm Hearth venue. We are the featured event at all call outs and should give a satisfying 45-60 minute program. These rehearsals allow us to generate interest in our show and SELL TICKETS! A teaser.

The rehearsal begins with the overture to the show and one of the directors or the producer will then narrate a simple story line to tie several songs together to give those not in the show an idea of what they can expect for the performance. There will be front microphones with cables on stands and a number of wireless microphones for the leads. This is the first opportunity many leads will have to experiment with the wireless body mikes. Soloists from the chorus should go to the mikes on stands and sing directly into the mike as directed.

The outdoor rehearsals take a lot of preparation with the sound system, so please keep away from the microphones and equipment. Do not touch anything unless asked to do so. Also, know your part and be attentive to those singing or speaking when you are not on-stage! Please don't talk or fool around during the rehearsal.

What do I wear?

Dress for the Call outs consists of your Show T-Shirt and tan (khaki) pants, shorts or skirt. If you don't have tan or khaki pants, shorts or skirt, wear something close. Please make sure that your clothing is clean. You are representing the Summer Musical Enterprise and The Pajama Game, so we want you to look good!

RADFORD: Bisset Park Gazebo

There is no rain location for this venue. Please come out to the park even if there is a threat of rain or if is raining in your area. Summer storms are often very localized and it may be sunny just a mile or two away from a location that is experiencing rain, so unless there is heavy rain that is definitely across the entire region, assume that we will be performing.

From Blacksburg: Take either Prices Fork Road to Rt. 114 (turn right), or take Rt. 460 to the New River Valley Mall and turn right on Rt. 114. Rt. 114 will end at Rt. 11 in Radford where you will turn left and cross the New River. As you cross the river, you will be going over Bissett Park below. Turn left onto East Main Street and get over into the left lane. The entrance to Bissett Park is left, just beyond the next traffic light. There is a sign if you look closely. You will follow the road to the bottom of the hill and turn left to get to the Gazebo. Park on the grass.

From Christiansburg: Take Radford Road, Rt. 11 (starts at the light on Main Street Near the Burger King) all the way into Radford. Go through the Campus Town area and the entrance for the park is on the right shortly after the Bondurant Realty building. The sign is not clearly visible from this direction. You will follow the road to the bottom of the hill and turn left to get to the Gazebo. Park on the grass.
