Stroubles Mill Neighborhood Watch
Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention concept in which neighbors
heighten the security of their neighborhoods by watching each other's
property.
When a home will be vacant for more than a day, owners should:
- Inform neighbors of duration of absence.
- Stop newspaper and mail or have it collected by a neighbor.
- Provide a neighbor a key.
- Inform police of absence if it will be lengthy.
- Set lighting timers.
- Set security system, if one is installed.
- Informed neighbors should increase observation of vacant
premises.
When a suspicious situation is observed, call the Police at 911.
Recommended passive activities:
- Post "Neighborhood Watch" decals in appropriate locations. (You can
get them from the Neighbor Watch Committee.)
- Mark susceptible property. (You can borrow an engraving tool from the
Police at 961-1810.)
- Have a security inspection of your home. (Contact a Neighborhood
Watch Committee member.)
- Correct identified security weaknesses.
