In the past, the society has relied on phone calls to spread the word
about events. As the society has grown, electronic mail (e-mail) has
been used as a more efficient method. Now, we have automated the
process with a LISTSERV. A LISTSERV (which stands for "list server") is primarily a mailing list manager or simply a collection of names and e-mail addresses. LISTSERV receives e-mail and distributes it to each person "subscribed" to the list. We use the LISTSERV to send an e-mail notice to each person before each dance, swing swap, and other event. This List not an open discussion List: it is used only to announce dance events.
To subscribe to the LISTSERV sign up at one of our events... When added you will recieve an email message from the system administrator describing the LISTSERV in general and telling you how you can unsubscribe yourself. Although this is a slower way of maintaining the list it helps to protect the privacy of our subscribers.
